Fibre Reinforced Plastic

Coloris - Color Dispersion for UPR and FRP Moldings

Product Description

Coloris are dispersions of inorganic/organic pigments in monomer-free unsaturated polyester resin. The carrier resin in the pigment paste combines chemically with molding grades of commercial polyester resins during curing. They are used for coloring Unsaturated Polyester Resin (UPR) and Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics (FRP) products.

Pigment Properties

Coloris color dispersions have been engineered to provide excellent dispersion in commercial grade resins, color uniformity and freedom from streaking on molded surfaces. The pigments exhibit the following excellent properties:

  • 1) Light Fastness
  • 2) Heat Fastness
  • 3) UV Resistance
  • 4) Outdoor Durability
  • 5) Excellent Dispersion
  • 6) Anti-Settling

Color Matching

Coloris color dispersions can be mixed with one another to obtain intermediate shades. Every effort is made to reduce batch to batch variation. However, even when using state-of-the-art color matching instrumentation, small variances between batches can occur.

Pigment Usage Level

Coloris color dispersions can be used in percentage levels listed here, based on the weight of the molding resin.

  • 5 – 12% Gelcoat
  • 3 – 6% Laminates
  • 6 – 10% Sheet/ Dough Molding
  • 4 – 6% Filled castings
  • 2 – 3% Fabric garment button

Not using enough pigments may lead to non-uniformity of color and other surface defects.
